Abstract: | IMES is a technology to provide 3-D indoor position data. IMES Chip is an IMES signal transmitter that transmits GNSS compatible signal with position (latitude, longitude, height and floor ID) and other data embedded into the navigation message. The development of IMES Technology has been done with the concepts of very low cost, global implementation and “simple-to-use” for global market. The deployment of IMES needs IMES transmitter device and IMES compatible receiver. The IMES signal is designed in such a way that it is compatible with current and future GPS/GNSS receivers with firmware update. It is not necessary to have any hardware modifications in the GPS/GNSS receivers. In order to make it possible for large scale or global deployment of IMES transmitters, it is necessary to make the cost of the transmitter very low, small in size and low power consumption. In order to minimize the transmitter’s cost “down-to-earth”, minimize the size and power consumption, we have designed and developed IMES Chip to transmit IMES signal. This paper introduces the IMES Chip and discuss about some of the applications where IMES will be used. |
