Assesment of the Need for Power-Flux Density Limits on RNSS in L2

James Jameson and Kris Maine

Abstract: In the 2000 World Radio Congress (WRC-2000), the United Nations’ International Telecommunications Union (ITU) issued Resolution 606 asking for technical studies of the need for a power flux density (pfd) limit on the non-geosynchronously orbiting (NGSO) radionavigation satellite service (RNSS) systems in the band 1215 – 1300 MHz. In October 2001, the United States submitted a contribution to ITU Radiocommunications Sector (ITU-R) Working Parties 8B and 8D. This paper is summary of that and subsequent work.
