AsteRx-m - A Very Low-power Compact GPS/GLONASS RTK Receiver

Abstract:	Handheld devices have seen spectacular growth in penetration and application in the last few years, and are everywhere now. Recently GPS technology has been invading consumer handheld devices, with mobile phones and PDA’s now featuring embedded GPS chips and location-based services almost by default. Since a few years, handheld devices are also popping up in professional GPS applications, not only as data collectors but also increasingly as fully integrated units including GPS receiver and antenna.Whereas for L1-only GIS applications this solution has been around for a while, recently users are demanding more and more accuracy, functionality and robustness. To cater for such requirements, Septentrio has recently launched AsteRx-m, the lowest-power compact dual-frequency receiver board on the market.AsteRx-m is unique : It is the only receiver of comparable size that isscalable from GPS-L1 only to full GPS-GLONASS L1-L2, thus bringing the same performance, robustness and availability as other dual-frequency RTK receivers.-It is the only receiver on the market that offers full GPS dual-frequency RTK for less than 500 mW,and full GPS/GLONASS RTK for less than 600 mW. And it is the only receiver of its kind on the market that can be configured for GPS/Galileo L1/L5/E5a as well as for GPS/GLONASS L1/L2AsteRx-m combines innovative power-saving technology with Septentrio’s proven GReCo3 GNSS ASIC and GNSS+ suite of tracking and positioning firmware. It makes high-precision RTK positioning available in a very compact and low-power package for handheld devices, unmanned vehicles and other power-sensitive high-accuracy applications. The proposed paper will introduce this new product, demonstrate its versatility and show performance test results.
