Abstract: | Opportunities to obtain more broadband functionality, wide gain pattern and better multipath suppression compared to known Choke Ring reference station antenna are shown. Pins impedance structure is used instead of common choke grooves structure allowing for more broadband functionality. Convex spherical impedance ground plane is used to provide with less gain pattern rolloff from zenith to horizon and better rejection of multypath signals. New broadband antenna element employing spherical array of convex patches to cover the entire GNSS band is synthesized. Novel convex impedance GNSS reference antenna practical implementation with dimensions fitting wide spread SCIGN radome is shown and performance characterization discussed. |
