Abstract: | This paper presents theoretical background to the averaging correlation used for satellite acquisition in global navigation satellite systems. To this end, a correlation model is derived and multirate theory is employed to outline the equivalence of the averaging correlation as presented in the literature and the common circular correlation. Moreover, the enhanced acquisition performance that averaging correlation entails is explored and demonstrated employing simulation data. |
