Development and Integration of a Robust Signal Tracking Module for the Triple-Frequency Dual-Constellation GAMMA-A Receiver

C. Mongrédien, M. Overbeck, G. Rohmer

Abstract: In this paper, the implementation of a tracking module for a triple-frequency Galileo/GPS/SBAS automotive receiver is discussed. The proposed implementation offers the robustness and the flexibility which are needed to maintain tracking in challenging automotive signal environments as well as to accommodate the different structures of the legacy, new and modernized signals. In particular, a new carrier tracking state logic is introduced. Driven by both frequency and phase lock indicators, it dynamically determines the most appropriate tracking loops configuration. In addition, robust tracking algorithms that account for the presence of a pilot channel, the introduction of secondary code or the use of advanced modulation are presented. These algorithms are designed to meet automotive requirements but also to accommodate a defined set of hardware constraints. Finally, some preliminary results and performance analysis are presented and discussed.
