Abstract: | This paper describes an innovative localization system and method for the soldier/fire-fighter using the IEEE 802.15.4a based IR-UWB. In the application fields for the soldier/fire-fighter, it is difficult to expect the plentiful anchor nodes for localization. Moreover, the coverage of the IR-UWB is very short as 30m due to the restriction of the power spectral density, i.e, -41.3dBm/MHz. In this paper, therefore, an infra-less localization system is presented based on the cooperative localization method. This system can extend the coverage of the application field using the P2P ranging concept. In order to verify the performance of the presented system, a Monte-Carlo simulation using the analysis tool is performed in this work. |
