Abstract: | We describe in this work the study of a bi-static radar system using the GPS L2C signal as a source of opportunity. In our approach we estimate soil moisture with the signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the direct and reflected GPS signals. For the sandy surface studied in this work the signal to noise ratio of the reflected signal can be very low. We propose to use in this work the data and pilot channel of the L2C signal, respectively coded with CM and CL code, in order to realize the long coherent integration of the signal for the estimation of the SNR. We describe in this paper the architecture and the principle of the system as well as the GPS signal modelling. We propose to use in our approach a circular multi-temporal and multi-sensor fusion filter to estimate the carrier phase of the received signal and to fuse the phase measurements obtained for the CL and CM codes. We assess in the experimentations the feasibility and the sensitivity of the method. |
