Abstract: | GPS IIF-1 was launched May 27, 2010. Using this date as a final milestone, GPS Operations completed all required preparation activities to ensure: 1. The Control Segment components (AEP, LADO, Remote sites, interconnectivity) are fully prepared to support launch, activation, On-Orbit Testing, Operation, and Sustainment of the IIF GPS satellite. 2. Operations crews and contractor/government support teams are fully trained and ready to fly the GPS IIF satellite. 3. All required documentation is verified, validated, and in a known state of readiness to support GPS IIF mission operations. Paper discusses, in detail, all of the activities, processes, rehearsals, software releases, documentation, and training which led 2nd/19th Space Operations Squadrons and the Boeing GPS Operations Support team to declare themselves fully prepared to fly the GPS IIF SV. Paper will also discuss planned management of Satellite Control Authority (SCA). Since this is the first satellite of a generation, command authority is planned to be maintained within the government’s acquisition arm during the extended post launch on-orbit test (OOT) period. |
