Abstract: The presence of plasma depletions in the equatorial regions represents a potential difficulty for the implementation of a SBAS system (such as GAGAN in the Indian region), due to the fact that these depletions can develop in small regions, and therefore may not always be detectable at ground system level. This paper presents a single frequency algorithm to detect plasma depletions at user level, improving the ionospheric contribution estimation and therefore, the user positioning and integrity. A description of the GAGAN-DDD Depletion Detection algorithm is provided in the following sections, as well as some examples of the performances achieved when using it.
