Femtosecond Optical Parametric Oscillator Gyro

Xianmei Meng and Jean-Claude Diels

Abstract: An optical parametric oscillator can provide a gyroscopic response without dead band, because the counter-rotating optical pulses in the cavity can be phased to meet only in air, hence eliminating the coupling that is at the origin of a dead band. The properties of such a ring laser are investigated. Means to correct the bias and reduce the beat note bandwidth are proposed.
