Extended Kalman Filter Solution for Multiple Hydrophone Position Calibration

H. S. Wassaf and H. J. Rome

Abstract: An extended Kalman Filter is developed to estimate the hydrophone position offsets in the 20 hydrophone inverse hyberbolic tracking system used to track test vehicles in the David Taylor Model Basin. Powerful data rejection algorithms are developed. Results indicate that the positions can be calibrated to the order of .003 ft.
