Abstract: The effect of multipath propagation on the code phase measurement performed by a DLL is twofold: introducing a bias in the tracking error and and altering its jitter variance. If both these quantities can be expressed as function of the channel parameters, the Mean-Square Error (MSE) can be easily calculated, instead than being assessed through time-consuming and restricted-validity simulations. In this contribution the tracking error bias and the tracking error variance are calculated as a function of the channel parameters, signal spectrum and receiver structure.
