A Zonal Regional Augmentation System Applying on Railway and Inland Waterway

Wang Zhipeng, Zhang Jun, Liu Qiang

Abstract: For some peculiar applications, such as satellite navigation augmentation on railway and inland waterway, a zonal regional augmentation system is proposed in the paper. Three aspects of the systems are discussed. First, a new positioning method is proposed. The method is composed of multiple differential reference stations, navigation satellites, and users. This method resolves the single reference station difference positioning errors increase with the distance between the reference station with the user station. The positioning accuracy is improved, and robustness and overlay efficiency are increased. Second, the deployment of the reference stations is considered, because the deployment is crucial to the performance and expense of the system. Two different deployments are proposed in the paper: one is a shape like “W” named the “W” in the paper, and the other is square. Two deployments are compared by simulation, and some results are obtained. In addition, some advices for the build of the reference station are proposed. Third, two methods are proposed to share information of all the reference stations. The paper analyses and compares two methods concretely. Furthermore, an algorithm of the zonal regional augmentation system integrality is deducted.
