Transferring Ambiguity Levels Between Network Corrections

P. Alves, and P.M. Grgich

Abstract: Network RTK is gaining a growing acceptance throughout the RTK community. With the increased availability of Network RTK solutions and a rapidly developing international standard for Network RTK corrections, it is now possible to service an increasing area with error reducing network corrections. This paper describes a method to combine Network RTK messages in MAC (Master-Auxiliary Concept) format from multiple service providers and integrate them onto a common ambiguity level. This allows for a seamless super-network of network corrections including the added benefit of additional network reliability. This computation appears to be quite simple at a first glance however there are many complex issues to be considered. This paper describes the mathematical method in detail using first network ambiguities followed by combining overlapping network correction messages. Next the drawbacks of this approach are discussed including cases where the network will experience a decrease in correction availability. As a final note, redundancy is analyzed to search for potential incorrectly resolved network ambiguities.
