Abstract: | loop design, minimizing the tracking threshold. The pullout probability calculations usually required for tracking threshold determination are replaced by suitable approximations of probability of starting a nonlinear behavior at an specific instant. A single PLL and the recently introduced UFA-PLL are analyzed, the latter being the proposed struc- ture for high dynamic applications. It is also shown that the UFA-PLL analysis is equivalent to a FLL´s with the same loop filter. The assumed dynamics is modeled as acceleration steps and the loop filter is designed with a fully digital domain technique. Expressions that include the role of the relevant loop parameters, such as the integration time and loop bandwidth are obtained. At the design stage they permit optimization of the tracking threshold. Simulations are shown to illustrate the quality of the approximations made. |
