Abstract: The software-based GNSS receiver has no need to change the hardware in the case of adapting the advanced algorithms or processing schemes to another communication system. It has the benefits of flexibility and reconstruction, which are weak points of the previous GNSS receiver implemented by hardware. In the upcoming GNSS such as the Galileo and the next generation GPS for military, the Binary Offset Modulation (BOC) was postulated to be the new signal modulation. However, the BOC modulation has a potential problem that is its natural autocorrelation function is ambiguous. This paper proposes a novel correlation scheme for software-based GNSS receivers to remove this ambiguity. This paper is focused only on the BOC(1,1) modulation for the Galileo open service (OS) in the L1 band. And it is implemented on the software-based GNSS receiver and validated by using measurements from an IF signal generator and GIOVE-A data as well.
