Abstract: | This paper presents the design and implementation of L1/L1F and L5/E5a dual-band GPS/Galileo receiver. The Dual-band GPS/Galileo receiver with a low-IF architecture is separated from the L1/L1F and L5/E5a bands. The receiver is composed of a LNA, RF preamplifiers, passive poly phase filters, down-conversion mixers, Gm-C LPFs, 2 stage variable gain amplifiers, 2-bit analog-to-digital converters, and the fully integrated frequency synthesizer including voltage controlled oscillator. For a low-power design, the receiver adopts the passive poly phase filter instead of I/Q LO generation and a single LNA is used. LNA noise figure of 2dB for L1/L1F and L5/E5a, only LNA, respectively. PLL exhibits phase noise of -85dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset frequency. The receiver consumes 44mW form 1.2-V supply while occupying a 3×3.8-mm2 die area including the ESD I/Q pads. This low noise and low phase noise and highly integrated GPS/GALILEO dual mode and dual band receiver tuner is implemented in 0.13um CMOS process. |
