Abstract: Urban areas still pose a very challenging environment for most GNSS receivers. In such areas, building and other obstacles generally introduce significant signal attenuation, reduce signals availability and create a variety of multipath reflections. To address this limitations, it’s possible to use a local augmentation system that improve the availability of GNSS signals using ground-based transmitters: the pseudolites. Use of pseudolite can also improve navigation performances in terms of accuracy. This paper shows the navigation performances reached by a GNSS augmentation system based on a synchronized pseudolite system deployed in a controlled area in the frame of the GTR (Galileo Test Range) project. The results obtained and showed in this article demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system and the benefit introduced in the test area.
