Abstract: | The Navigation and Communication Laboratory (NavCom Lab) is a facility developed under the responsibility of the Business Unit Navigation and Integrated Communications of Thales Alenia Space Italia S.P.A and located at Company premises in Rome. The set-up has been started since beginning of 2006 in order to undertake the activities at research & development level in the field of Navigation, starting from the most recent European Space Agency experimental initiatives represented by GIOVE A/B Project, up to Galileo IOV Phase Contract and onward. The NavCom Laboratory includes several facilities dedicated to different navigation fields, Orbit Determination, UERE Budget Characterization, Local and Global Synchronization Systems and GNSS Bit True Signal Simulator (GBTSS). In particular, the facility of the NavCom lab dedicated to signal monitoring, namely GNSS Signal Monitoring Laboratory Facility (GNSS SMLF), is currently under development and will be presented in this paper together with the activities planned to be carried out through the exploitation of the facility itself. |
