Continuous Data Storage and Replay Unit

Abstract: The Center for Remote Sensing, Inc.’s Data Acquisition, Storage, and Replay Units (DASR-HD-003-05) provide acquisition, storage and replay of raw GPS (and other) signals. With an external GPS antenna connect to its front end, the raw signals are downconverted (built in) and digitized and stored in multiple hard drives. The digitized samples can be transferred to any standard computer for analysis and can also be replayed through built-in DACs and upconverters to provide replica of R.F. signals received at the antennas. Various digital signals can also be transformed into R.F. A continuous throughput of 240 MBPS (upgradable to 2 GBPS) sustained over 3 hours of recording time (storage > 2 TB) is provided in our hard disk-based Data Acquisition, Storage, and Replay Unit. This has been achieved using dedicated hardware and not relying on conventional bus structure. This ensures continuity of data under any circumstance. Faster throughputs and large storage capacity can also be provided based on the user’s requirements. The selfcontained units are available in either a rack-mounted or in table-top enclosures. The can be integrated with a variety of I/O devices and the data stored in the built-in hard drives can be transferred conveniently to and from the user’s terminal via standard interfaces parallel port, Ethernet, or dedicated bus. The software for data transfer is provided. Internet connectivity for control and transfer is available.
