Abstract: The Galileo SoL Receiver (SOLRX) is a Galileo receiver prototype providing the Safety-of-Life (SoL) service for avionic applications. It consists of two components: • Measurement engine, called the Galileo Test Receiver Safety of Life (GTRSOL), developed by NovAtel • Navigation engine, called the SoL Processor (SoLP), developed by CMC The GTRSOL processes GPS (L1/L5) and Galileo (L1/E5a/E5b) signals and provides measurements and navigation messages to the SoLP. The latter processes the measurements and decodes the navigation messages to provide a navigation solution with integrity. The architecture of NovAtel’s GTRSOL and CMC Electronics’ SoLP will be discussed. For SOLRX signal testing purposes, the NovAtel single channel Signal Generator (SigGen) has been modified to generate a Galileo E5b signal at IF (70MHz). Previously, this Siggen had been modified to generate Galileo L1 and E5a signals at RF. These Siggen signals, along with live and simulated GPS signals, will be used to test the SOLRX 's signal performance. The SOLRX 's signal performance test results will be discussed. For SOLRX solution and integrity testing purposes, and as part of this contract, the development of a GPS L1/Galileo L1/E5a/E5b simulator has been subcontracted out to the university L'École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS). The ETS simulator output, along with live GPS signals, will be used in the future to test the SOLRX 's solution accuracy and integrity performance. The determination of SOLRX 's solution and integrity will be discussed. This discussion will include the frequency mode selection when operating in alternate or degraded modes.
