A Complete GPS Signal Processing for Real Time Scenario

Nomi Sonowal and Rajeev Yadav

Abstract: This paper describes an approach for real time implementation of multichannel tracking of GPS L1 C/A signals for software based GPS receiver on TigerSHARC platform. The main objective of this paper is to bring out overall signal processing flow from Signal acquisition to Multi-channel Signal Tracking of satellites in a software receiver. Also, efficient signal acquisition and acquisition to signal tracking transition issues are discussed. The memory usage and the computation burden because of multi-channels are taken into account while implementation on the DSP. These methods were first developed in the MATLAB and then real time implementation was done on TigerSHARC DSP running at 500MHz.The validation of all signal processing algorithms has been done using 12-channel GPS simulator.
