Abstract: | This paper presents the preliminary results that were obtained in the use of a GNSS receiver network to monitor a vessel. Data was collected onboard Red Jet 4, a catamaran-type vessel which is operated by Red Funnel on their main route between Southampton (United Kingdom mainland) and West Cowes (Isle of Wight). Theoretical simulation for Red Jet 4 is first presented using a MATLAB based simulator. Next, the experimental setup is described and the most current results of the practical experiment are presented, alongside the particular problems that were encountered for this experiment and the solutions that were utilised in an attempt to solve these. The paper concludes with some of the enhancements that were made to the simulator based on the results obtained so far, and the work that will be conducted in the final stages of this project. |
