Comprehensive GPS Receiver Epoch (Y2K, EOW) Testing

Charles R. Falchetti, Craig Stroing, Pierre Bouniol, Jean-Philippe Saulay

Abstract: This paper describes the cooperative efforts of the LRBA of Vernon, France and SSC-SD to jointly develop and validate a comprehensive resource to evaluate the combination of GPS epoch events that are soon to occur. A suite of tests was designed to test all the time-critical boundaries, which will shortly affect all current and new military and civil GPS receivers. These events include the Year 2000 (Y2K), Leap Year, GPS End of Week (EOW) 255 and GPS End of Week (EOW) 1023 epochs. This cooperation incorporated both technical exchange and test resource sharing and resulted in an improved test resource to serve the international GPS user community
