Personal Navigation on a Cellular Telephone

Peter Duffett-Smith, Simon Hern, Paul Hansen, and Anthony R. Pratt

Abstract: We demonstrate, using simulations based on actual conditions prevailing in Cambridge UK, how the fusion at measurement level of GPS and network timing measurements provides the basis for a personal navigation solution to be maintained by a cellular telephone over several hours whilst minimizing the energy consumption of the GPS element.
