A Three-Step Method to Separate Real-Time Systematic Errors Suitable for GPS Medium-Long Baselines

X. Luo

Abstract: A new three-step method to estimate real time systematic errors suitable for medium-long baselines (defined here as typically 30–150 km) is suggested in this paper. First, the systematic errors of the double difference (DD) code measurements are estimated; and then the systematic errors of the DD carrier phase measurements are calculated by combining the difference of the carrier phase measurements of two epochs with the code measurements that have been removed the systematic errors. On the basis of the improved carrier phase measurements, integer ambiguities are fixed, and then the systematic errors of the DD carrier phase measurements are further calculated precisely. This method adopts two measures, 1) regarding the code of and phase difference between two sequence epochs by DD ionosphere-free combinations as the basic measurements; 2) According to Tikhonov regularized principle and selecting weight fitting theory, the known coordinates' apriori information of the medium-long baselines are fully considered, and the systematic errors as to be estimated parameters are computed. The data and the results of three baselines (the length from 70km to 150km) are discussed. The systematic errors of the code and phase observations are estimated using 2 epochs data. And then the integer ambiguity is fixed by 6 epochs' phase observations whose systematic errors have been removed; the success rate of fixed integer ambiguities is 100%. In addition, an example of network RTK is introduced. Appling this method to a network RTK, one can effectively constructs the virtual observations to realize the rapid and precise positioning of a rover station.
