Implementation and Analysis of Acquisition and Tracking Algorithms for BOC Signals

S. Chen, K-H. Thiel, A. Kleusberg

Abstract: Focused on the realization of three proposed algorithms aiming to eliminate multiple peaks inherent in the autocorrelation function of binary offset carrier (BOC) signals, this paper compares and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of using these methods. Regarding implementation this paper also shows the aspect of signal processing---from signal acquisition to code tracking as well as carrier tracking are fully presented. In principle the algorithms utilized for tracking are the same as those for acquisition; some considerations however need to be taken. For a comparable evaluation, the simulation is conducted with two types of BOC signals---BOC (1, 1) and BOC (15, 2.5). Although the conclusions are drawn primarily with respect to these two types of BOC signals, some conclusions can be expanded to BOC (n, m) signal in general.
