Abstract: | Galileo Mission Segment (GMS) is responsible for all ground functions related to Galileo mission implementation. Alcatel Alenia Space is the GMS prime contractor responsible for the segment design (including the related performance analysis), development and verification. Among the GMS functions is generation of Galileo System Time (GST). GST will be available as a physical signal and will be fed into a Galileo receiver. In this way, it will become visible for the Orbit Determination and Synchronisation Facility (OSPF) which will compute the orbits of Galileo satellites and predict its clocks versus GST. This data will be then broadcast to users in the Galileo navigation message. The stability and reliability of GST will be one of the key factors in determining the accuracy of satellite clock prediction and, thus, the performance of Galileo navigation and timing services. |
