Abstract: | Developments in the field of Software Defined Radios (SDR) have brought about the development and refinement of an open architecture known as the Software Communications Architecture (SCA). Applications developed for deployment on SCA compliant SDRs are known as waveforms. Under the GPS-NAP (GPS Network Assisted Positioning) contract with NAVAIR, NAVSYS has developed a proof of concept GPS waveform. This paper covers some of the basic concepts of SCA, a description of the testbed system, the GPS waveform design, GPS waveform test results, and a description of some of the benefits that a GPS waveform provides. |
