Development and Preliminary Test Results of Korean WADGPS Test Bed Using NDGPS Infrastructure in Korea

Abstract: Wide Area Differential GPS (WADGPS) research group in Seoul National University GNSS Lab. has developed Korean WADGPS test bed for three years under the contract with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MOMAF) of Korea. The objectives of this project are to verify the feasibility of the implementing Korean SBAS and to analyze the expected performance of the WAD correction and integrity message. Especially, we use existing NDGPS infrastructure so that we can reduce the cost and related risk efficiently and get the synergistic results. We use operational NDGPS stations for the test bed wide-area reference stations while not interrupting current operation. Test bed includes five wide-area reference stations (WRS) located in the NDGPS stations and one wide-area master station (WMS) in Seoul National University. Test bed WMS uses Kalman filter based approach for the generation of the WAD correction and integrity information. WRS plays an added role as a permanent test user for monitoring and analyzing real-time performance of the test bed including accuracy, integrity, availability and continuity. For compatibility, we uses standard WAAS message format for broadcast message and NSTB data format for storing GNSS data. To verify the performance of the test bed, we conducted real-time experiments with static and dynamic user. The results were satisfied with performance requirements of various applications including aviation and maritime. For the dynamic test, we performed a road test using the car equipped with WAD user equipment.
