Abstract: | Now that we have almost 4 years of experience with the GPS constellation since FOC it is possible to assess and project long-term outages, short-term outages, outages due to maneuvers and other maintenance activity outages on the state probabilities. A Markov chain was used to model the historical trends and to project to a steady state. Projections of the state probabilities with the IIR and IIF constellations were also made. An additional factor called launch priority was introduced into the model to model the urgency of replenishment based on the state of the constellation. This also allows a reasonable means of modeling the constellation growth to more than 24 satellites. |
