Performance of a GPS Receiver in the Presence of Clock Jitter

S. Nadig and A. Raghupathy

Abstract: In this paper, we studied the effect of sample clock jitter/phase noise on the performance of an IF sampled GPS receiver. The intent of this paper is to provide a technique to systematically derive the phase noise specification of the LO. A combination of analytical results and simulation are discussed. In addition, we quantify the loss of sensitivity due to phase noise in the system.
