Optimum Element Distribution for Circular Adaptive Antenna Systems

J.A. Ulrey, and I.J. Gupta

Abstract: The performance of circular, planar adaptive antennas is studied. The individual antenna elements are biconical antennas and the weights are adapted using space-only processing or space-time adaptive processing. Various distributions of antenna elements are investigated where the antenna elements are distributed over the whole aperture or just on the perimeter of the circle. It is shown that when all the elements are distributed on the perimeter of the circle, one obtains the best performance.
