Abstract: | This paper focuses on the performance characteristics, and recent results of portable underwater tracking ranges using radio-linked sensors (hydrophones). The recent results include deep and shallow water operations conducted in September and October 1997. These lightweight radio-linked sensors are part of a system configuration which includes differential GPS links, PC displayed range graphics (real-time and playback), and tracking sensors. NUWC Division Keyport has satisfied many needs to quickly instrument portable underwater tracking in deep to shallow water test sites. These rapidly deployed portable ranges use essentially the same system components for deep-water operations as for shallow water. |
