Abstract: In Japan, 3D map is put into practical use in the field of car-navigation system. As the next step, we should aim at putting it into practical use in the field of security solution, to prevent the damage of life and property of citizens caused by natural disaster, crime, and terrorism. This system is to make use of combined digital map- a combination of 2D map and 3D map with accurate information of location. Even if after unfortunate breakout of incidents, we will be able to limit the damage as much as possible. We believe geographic information that is produced accurately is indispensable for realization of an effective guard system. As the required guard system from now on, we should make the areas resistant to disaster, terrorism, and crime, by 3D map and digital map, and by keeping close contact with the people in the area. Now we work for ZENRIN Co., Ltd. This company provides a good record to our argument. Regarding the geographic database for car-navigation system in Japan, the market share of ZENRIN is about 80%. Especially, ZENRIN carried out the important responsibility in the field for police and fire departments. Specifically, the share of digital map by ZENRIN used by 47 police headquarters in Japan, is remarkable. And, the share of residential map (on paper) by ZENRIN, used at 15,707 of police stations and police boxes across the country, is also a major share. Speaking of security solution in Japan, ZENRIN literally plays an important role, and has acquired great confidence from the police. We will continue to do our best in order to get an excellent security solution in Japan and the world.
