Abstract: | The performance of Dual Frequency Smoothing (DFS) Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) architectures are evaluated through both simulation and recorded flight test data. It is demonstrated that DFS DGPS has many attributes that make this architecture superior to conventional Single Frequency Smoothing (SFS) code DGPS. Different airborne smoothing architectures are examined. Position domain smoothing has the possibility of suffering from additional errors with differential processing compared to range domain smoothing. However DFS techniques are generally less susceptible to these errors, making position domain smoothing a viable approach for DGPS. |
