Abstract: | In this paper, we proposed a guidance and control mechanization for guided artillery fire based on an on-board IMU and identified the main sources of guidance errors. One of the dominant sources of guidance error for guided artillery projectile (without terminal seekers) was attributed to the navigation system errors, primarily the gyros and accelerometer errors. As such, we derived the corresponding specification for the IMU sensors to achieve a given navigation accuracy requirement for guided artillery fire. |
