Abstract: | This paper introduced the concept of using a software GPS receiver to assess levels of multipath for airborne aircraft. The experimental data collection platform, installed and operated onboard a Boeing 777 aircraft, is outlined. A specific collection effort is used as a focal point to demonstrate the capabilities of the GPS software radio for multipath detection. Two assessment algorithms are proposed and implemented on the collected data. The results of initial processing show airborne multipath to be quite low, in agreement with previous traditional measurements. |
