Abstract: | WaveSmoothTM is a new technique to mitigate errors for satellite based navigation systems, and presented here to effectively mitigate multipath error in a real-time fashion. This WaveSmoothTM processing technique is believed to be directly applicable to Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) (e.g., GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, etc); GPS is used as a test case. The synergy of wavelet decomposition and code minus carrier (CmC) techniques in the WaveSmoothTM technique provides the high fidelity multipath estimation and removal to enhance GPS performance in a real-time fashion. The field data were analyzed, which illustrates a 50-90% real-time multipath mitigation improvement in terms of a test metric defined as compression ratio of the CmC data. |
