Abstract: | The first satellites in the European Galileo navigation satellite system will comprise two demonstration satellites, GSTB-V2/A and V2/B, being built by SSTL and GaIn respectively. This paper will give an overview of SSTL’s GSTB-V2/A design, the programme status, and the progress towards the launch in Autumn 2005. According to current plans, both SSTL’s and GaIn’s GSTB-V2 satellites will be in orbit by early 2006 transmitting the first signals and demonstrating globally the presence of Europe’s new Galileo navigation satellite system. |
