Carrier-based Ionosphere Recovery Using A Regional Area GPS Network: Preliminary Results

Xiangqian Liao and Yang Gao

Abstract: A new regional vertical TEC recovery model is described in this paper based on the concept of Regional Area Differential GPS networks. Carrier phase measurements are used as the principal observable in the ionosphere estimation and modelling. Preliminary test results have indicated that the ionosphere can be recovered at centimetre-level and the new method has the potential to further improve the achievable accuracy of ionosphere TEC estimates using a GPS network.
