A Real-Time Hybrid-Domain WaveSmoothTM Code Processing Using Wavelets

Chris Bartone and Yujie Zhang

Abstract: A new WaveSmoothTM code processing technique was developed and proposed here to enable smoothing of GNSS measurements, using wavelets without introducing significant ionosphere divergence, for the single-frequency GNSS user. The WaveSmoothTM proposed in this paper effectively mitigates errors in a real-time fashion for GNSS and is demonstrated with GPS field data. This GPS field data were used to compare the WaveSmoothTM technique to Carrier Smoothed Code, for a comparable 100 s smoothing window, which illustrates a 40% reduction in induced bias and comparable root mean square values of error. The conclusion is drawn that the WaveSmoothTM technique is a simple and effective method to offer reliable error mitigation in a real-time high fidelity fashion.
