Abstract: | Two different approaches can be considered to cal- culate the relative position vector, essential in colli- sion avoidance studies: the first consists in using the fundamental GPS equations, solving for the absolute position of each receiver and differencing them, the second feat, ures a new algorithm, solving for relative position directly. Both methods take advantage of the cancellation of position errors common to both users. However, a statistical analysis based on experimental results shows that the latter offers an improvement of 50% in position accuracy. |
