Abstract: | A new method is introduced in this paper to compensate for GPS antenna phase and group delay variations as a function of elevation and azimuth angles. Antenna calibration requirements and the importance of antenna group delays are discussed in relation to the Local Area and Wide Area Augmentation Systems (LAAS and WAAS). Measurements from an antenna range are used to determine group delays with noise levels below 1 cm (1 sigma). Differences between field measurements and antenna range measurements are discussed in detail and illustrated by a High-Zenith Antenna (HZA) case study. |
