Abstract: | A program has been developed using Ionospheric Exchange format (IONEX) data to generate Vertical Total Electron Content (VTEC) animated maps. A mathematical ionospheric model based on these data was used in a 3D ray-tracing program. Different effects produced by the equatorial anomaly such as the bending of the rays, convergence and divergence are shown as function of the latitudinal and longitudinal gradients. A preliminary study showing correlation between position measurements and the effect of the anomaly is presented. |
