Abstract: | This paper reports the results of work performed in the Customised Local Elements task within the Galilei cluster project. The Galilei project was part of the larger GALILEO programme and was funded by Directorate General - Transport and Energy (DGTREN) of the European Commission. The Customised Local Elements Study consisted of nine architecture studies, each of which is targeted at the following key applications that demand enhanced services: ·• Location Based Services·• Indoor Positioning·• Off-shore precision positioning·• Land based precision positioning·• Train control·• Aircraft precision approach·• Harbour approach and docking·• Automatic Driver Assistance This paper will outline the study approach and then provide a summary of the key aspects of the nine case studies together with a number of overarching study conclusions. This paper is based upon work which has largely been conducted within EC funded Galileo studies. The views expressed are the opinions of the authors and do not reflect EC policy. |
