Abstract: | Program 0ffice (JPO) designated the 6585th ‘I&t Group Guidance Xst Division (also known qs the Central Inertial (iuid;mce ‘l&t Facility (C’IGI‘F)), Holloman AFR. New Mcxico. as their future lick1 test agency for GPS User Equipment (UE) and GPS integrated systems testing. Transition of lest and evaluation respvnsibility for integrated systems to the CIG’I’F occurred during Fiscal Year 19911. Responsibility for Air Force GPS UE testing will be transferred at 1he start of Fiscal Year 1991. The present GPS lest and evaluation at 11~ NAVSTAR GPS JPO Operation 1,ocation - M (01,~AA). Yuma Proving Ground (YPG), Arizona, will continue operating until 31 December 1990. Therefore, by the start of IYYI, future JPO sponsored testing will be eontlucted at 1he CIG’I’F. In addition. the ClCi’l’F will perform evaluation and analysis in support of CiPS IJE test programs at Edwards AFB. Calibrnia, as directed by the JPO. This paper presents a brief history of pst test nntl evaluation (T&E) experience at YPCi and CIG’I’E and reasons why the JPO chose the C.‘IC‘;I‘F to continue their GPS 1lE fickl test efforts. Then a description of the buildup ofT&Ecapahilitics at the (.‘lC?TF will bc presentecl. The capabilities for GPS CJE testing will be described, including flight testing, rocket sled testing. centrifuge testing. and laboratory testing. |
