Abstract: | In a DGPS system it is essential that the data link matches GPS itself in reliability and availability, and can carry the data fast enough. Only links unaffected by anomalous propagation can do this; usually VHF links with only short ranges. To cover large areas satellite links must be used but they have not so far been generally used because of cost. NHL has developed a link that both meets the technical requirements and is not unduly expensive. It is capable of world-wide implementation and has been proved in extensive trials during the last two years. The paper describes how it works and gives some test results. |
