Loran Time Difference Correction Factors: Valid Information Or Blue Smoke And Mirrors?

Michael J. Miressi, Franklin D. Mackenzie

Abstract: Whenever the subject of Loran-C time difference (TD)correction factors comes up, the same questions always arise. Why do we have correction factors? How are they generated, who uses them, and who is responsible for them? This paper addresses the need for correction factors to ensure that aircraft are within the protected airspace, demonstrates how they are produced and used, and describes techniques that verify their accuracy.
